Day 172 - A certain Senorita

A certain Senorita put my life into turmoil today. She's a kind, wonderful person, who I am lucky to work with. She is so nice that she sends me things to read or look at that she thinks I would like. And she is correct, the things she sends are so cute, I cannot resist attempting them.  So I am dedicating the chaos of today to her, because I accomplished far too much for the 1st day of summer.

This morning my new Ikea fabric and I visited the paint store to pick out the perfect paint for my dining room chairs. Remember it was said Senorita that got me started on the chair idea after she shared the Better After blog and I saw that infamous post about dining chairs. I found a beautiful swimming pool blue that matches the fabric, as well as my purse. Because it's always a good idea to have your dining chairs match your purse...

Then I ran over the hardware store and picked up some spray paint so that I could work some magic on my little battered bistro set, another project inspired by the Better After blog I am hoping my set turns out as cute as this one. And when I got home today, I got out my electric sanders (yes, I have 2, doesn't everyone?) and sanded and painted the table.  I love the color more than the lime green I had seen in the store, it's more like a yellow margarita green, a color I have been trying to find for the last 2 years. I only had time to finish the table, because it was getting dark and it's hard, and dangerous, to spray paint in the dark. So I will have to finish painting the chairs tomorrow.

Still enamored by the wonderful costumes I saw at the Britney Spears concert this weekend, I stopped by the mall for a little shopping. But, the lovely Senorita had sent me another blog to look at last night and it was still fresh in my head because the author was really into refashioning and reworking existing garments into something else. After not seeing anything I liked while shopping, it occurred to me that I had a very cute dress in my closet that I didn't wear because it was too long, and that I could refashion it to make it wearable.

And so, in between waiting for coats of spray paint to dry, I  got out my sewing machine and cut and hemmed my dress. It was was no small feat because it was a circle skirt (think math/geometry issues) and I had never hemmed a circle skirt before. Thank goodness for the web, because I was able to find a site that helped walk me through the process of creating a dress that is now more appropriately short.

And lest I get bored between doing all of that, I also picked up a few more things for the Minnie Mouse and  Jim bathrooms, drove a friend to the airport, moved 3 towel racks, dealt with Comcast and my epic cable failure, and then went to the movies.  Not bad for 1 day, but now I will collapse.

Haaaaaa haha oh I'm so sorry! I'm dying to see the chairs, they sound uh-may-zine (like Kelly Kapur from the office)!
