Day 264 - Little House, little insane

The girls and I have been listening to Little House on the Prairie each night before they go to bed. Listening to the book as an adult is waaaay different than it was reading it as a child. As a child, I thought it seemed exciting and adventurous to move to the prairie with your family, build a new house, start a new life as a settler.  As a parent, it seems downright insane.  To take three small children hundreds of miles from your friends and family, to settle in Indian Territory, not yet approved for settlement by the US Government, have prairie fires threaten your home, and have your entire family almost killed by malaria doesn't seem exciting. It seems downright terrifying, and has made the entire story even more enjoyable.
