Day 348 - Mother of Pearl Coating

I love this coat, it's my mom's coat, but neither of us liked the buttons. It only took 25 years for one of us to finally change the buttons. Seriously, the coat had buttons we didn't like for 25 years. Ridiculous.
So, yesterday I went to the fabric store and bought new buttons. When I got home and showed them to Lydia she said, "Oh, those are nice. Are they abalone?" Then I tried to figure out how and why she knew what abalone was, especially when it looked nothing like its natural form, and tried to figure out if they were abalone or mother of pearl shells.
Now my coat has new buttons, and I think it looks quite nice.
