Day 116- Exploding lampshades

I heard a crash the other and found my lamp laying on it's side. I assumed that the bulb was broken, but instead it was the shade. I was unaware that a lampshade could explode.  Tonight we finally made a trip to get a new shade at the lampshade store known as Target.

I conveniently forgot that lampshades are really standard, that there is some strange lampshade sizing chart I haven't ever been able to comprehend or access. I knew the shade I had clipped onto the blub and didn't have a harp, but that type of shade didn't exist in Target, and I was propelled into the hell that is lampshade sizing. Meanwhile, the girls were busy shopping for cowboy hats... I picked this shade but worried it wouldn't fit the base I already had. So, I decided it was best to buy another lamp base. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the bases that came without shades...

So, I bought another lamp and shade and figured I could do some swapping when I got home. And then I got home, with a new shade, a new lamp and a new cowboy hat, to discover I had no light bulbs to fit the new lamp and that the new shade did not fit on the new base.

However, by some miracle of the lamp, the new shade did fit the old base...sigh.
